My husband and oldest daughter wrote poems for me this year. I thought it was very unique and thoughtful. Some of them were also kind of funny.

Love the idea Melody. My daughter once wrote me the ABC's about Moms and of course, I still have it till this day. Thanks for sharing.

This year I received the most perfect handpainted vase from my daughter. I have to admit I will keep it for the rest of my life. It was just absolutely precious. I would like to thank you for this wonderful opportunity for Christian working moms to come together. I have often felt that people in my church looked down their noses when I had to return to work after having my first daughter. It has been an emotional ride for me. Check out my working mom blog at www.tulsaworkingmom.com. Thanks again!

This year I didn't get a thing form my 22 year old son, in fact the day before he borrowed money(we gave him $120) From us! He works full time, shares an apartment with a friend, eats out a lot and calls us every few weeks to borrow money. The last time he wanted $1000 for music maker he saw on Craigslist I said no. I guess he was mad about that Cuz 2 weeks later was Mother's Day and he didn't get me a thing--not even a card. And today he stopped by after taking time off to spend with HIS friends over the weekend and still didn't bring me a thing!! His lease is up in about 2 months and he doesn't know what to do. My 18 year old daughter bought me a gift card(no Mother's Day card) at least after spending the day looking to get a henna tattoo and giving me the card about 6:30 in the evening. Then turned around the very next day and made a big fuss over her boyfriends birthday, dinner, time out with friends and a gift! I was a single parent with my children for 10 years before I re-married and this is the thanks I get. Well I plan to return the favor in spades.I'm looking forward to her moving out and some peace soon.

Anonymous,

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mother's Day. It sounds like your children are rather self-focused right now. Can I encourage you that God has seen all you have done for your children and He appreciates what you have done? I pray that your children will soon realize all the sacrifices you have made for them. Sometimes being a mother is a truly thankless task.
