Mom guilt

I have a question for you? Do you think your Mom experienced guilt as a Mom? Is this a new thing or is it an age old problem.

Do your children go on sleepovers?

Please read the article below and comment.  My children did very few sleepovers.  One they did I had regrets.  It wasn't anything horrible, but it was things I did not agree with.  As a therapist I have heard way too many stories in my office about what happens on sleepovers, so I have become jaded and cynical.  You can assume that other families have the same values you do, but that is not always true.  I would love to hear your input.

Sharing the Gospel with Your Children

Favorite Bible Verse

I read a book once where the author stated that God gives her a new verse every year to focus on and live out.  I began to pay more attention and realized this helped me as well.  The verse God gave me to focus on this year is: "Seek the LORD and his strength; seek His presence continually!" Psalm 105:4.  I'm learning to seek His presence and peace.  I need to be intentional in seeking His presence throughout the day.  Please share a favorite verse or something God is teaching you right now.

Seasons in a Mom's Life

Are there times in your life as a Mom that you said No to something for a season? Maybe you gave up extra activities at work or church when you had babies, etc.  If you did say No for a season, did anyone give you a hard time for saying No?

Celebrating Dads

What do you appreciate about your own Dad or your husband as a Dad?  Dads are often made fun of in the media.  Please share encouraging stories about Dads.

CWM Support Group

Have you started a CWM Support Group at your church or in your community? If you did, what resources did you use?  What worked and didn't work for your group?  Please share, so we can encourage one another to start our own CWM Support groups.

Bible Verse for 2013

I read a book years ago and the author shared that every year God would give her a verse to focus on for the year.  The verse wasn't always one she "liked", meaning it was designed to grow her, but that God would give her one.  So, do you have a verse you are focusing on for 2013?  I will share mine with you,
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.  Please share your verse.

What do you do for Halloween

Here is my annual post on Halloween.  What do you do as a family to celebrate Halloween?  Do you go door to door trick or treating in your neighborhood?  Do you go to a Fall Festival at your church? Do your children dress up?  I guess the most important question... Do you admit to ever taking candy from your children's candy bag?  Full disclosure - I'm have been known to sneak on occasion anything that is chocolate!!

Faith and Work

Do you feel you can share your faith at work?  In other words, can you be open about your faith or do you feel you have to hide your faith?  Do you feel any persecution at work for being a Christian?

Funny stories from your children

I thought we would do something fun for a change.  Let's share funny stories from our children's lives.  It could be something they said or did.  We can lighten up our day and realize that God gave us children to remind us to laugh.  Can't wait to hear your stories.

Summer arrangements

If you have children that are school age what kind of arrangements do you have for them while you are working during the summer?  A closely related question is when do you decide they are old enough to stay home alone in the summer?

Travel Sports Teams

Do any of you have children on travel sports teams?  They are a big thing where I live.  Also, you are told your child will not be able to play at highschool, etc. if you don't do travel ball.  The big thing I have seen with travel ball is it takes over your life and your children often have games on Sundays.  I think Sunday should be a time for worship and be with family.  Just trying to see what your experience is with this pressure.  I also see it with cheerleading squads, etc.

In the March CWM issue I talk about quotes that are attributed to the Bible that are not in the Bible. For example, God helps those who help themselves. Please share some other quotes or examples you have heard that are inaccurate.

Support from family as a CWM

We often talk at CWM about reaction to Moms working from the church or other Moms. That got me to thinking. What kind of reaction did you get from your own mother and mother-in-law (if you have one) about working outside the home?
